Grand Seiko

The concept for Spring Drive began in the 1970s with the ambition to craft a quintessential timepiece that would merge the durability and power of a mechanical mainspring with the precision of electronic timekeeping. This quest for excellence spanned over two decades, culminating in the debut of the first Spring Drive generation. The pursuit of perfection continued under the prestigious Grand Seiko name, leading to the creation of the 9R movement, which is at the heart of every Grand Seiko Spring Drive watch. In September 2004, Grand Seiko unveiled its inaugural model powered by the 9R movement, boasting automatic winding and a 72-hour energy reserve.
